The strategic alliance between MATPAL Marine Institute (MPMI) and the TOTALTEC International Petroleum and Maritime Academy (IPMA) has given way to the formation of Maritime Safety Training Institute (MSTI). This alliance provides a new integrated training and educational solution, geared to accelerating the development of a world class Guyanese workforce to participate in our maritime industry locally and internationally.

MATPAL and TOTALTEC are both pioneering Guyanese companies and market leaders in their respective training areas offered in Guyana. The TOTALTEC IPMA is the only training institution in Guyana which offers full immersion safety and operational training programs into the oil and gas industry, including practical training on industry-specific equipment and machinery. MATPAL is the only Guyanese training institution which offers maritime training courses which are certified by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Through this Alliance, the Maritime Safety Training Institute will develop state of the art facilities for maritime and safety related training. We are investing in Guyana’s future by employing qualified instructors, equipment and new physical facilities to deliver all facets of this highly specialized training. Our investments in training and development of Guyanese young men and women are unparalleled and show our strong commitment to investing in people now for the future, key to building a vibrant Guyanese workforce to participate in our industry.

Maritime Safety Training Institute (MSTI) will accelerate the building of competence, local capacity and Guyanese capabilities to serve and respond to the oil & gas and maritime industries. We look forward to working with and supporting international companies establishing in Guyana to help them build and develop their Guyanese workforce.
