Objective: This course is designed for those who wish to pursue a career as a Deck Officer aboard ship. It provides a comprehensive education in navigation and other shipboard activities.
The Cadet will gain theoretical and practical insight into many different areas of vessel operations, including maritime technology, navigation, safety, cargo operations, leadership and management.
Eligibility Requirements for Cadet Training:
- Have CXC passes (Grades 1 – 3) in five (5) subjects including Mathematics, English and Physics
- Must be between seventeen (17) to twenty-five (25) years
- Be self-motivated, disciplined and enthusiastic
- Must be in good general health
Course Duration: Four (4) years
Induction: Institute- Four (4) weeks

Practical Training
All Cadets will be required to complete a minimum of twenty (20) months onboard training.
