Objective: This course provides an introductory platform of the Safety measures and procedures needed on board to equip Fishermen with the necessary tools for survival.
Topics/Modules:
- Introduction to Basic Safety Training
- Keeping a good look-out by sight and hearing
- Responding to emergencies (Emergency Procedures)
- How to initiate and respond to a distress signal at sea
- Search and Rescue procedures
- Use of Radio and Radio Signals
- Piracy
Duration: Five (5) Days
Marking Scheme: Oral / Written Assessment with pass rate of 70%
Certification Offered:
Certification of Merit issued by MatPal Marine Institute
Licence for this course is issued by the Maritime Administration Department of Guyana based on participant successfully passing examination as set out by MARAD
