MTC International, a consultancy firm from the Netherlands, has completed a Gap Analysis of MatPal Marine Institute.

The scope of the Gap Analysis was to visualize the gap that needs to be closed in order for MPMI to be accredited to deliver Emergency Response Training in line with the Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization (OPITO) standards.

The following training standards were used for the analysis:

  • • T-BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training)
  • • T-FOET (Further Offshore Emergency Training)
  • • T-HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training)

Focus areas:

  1. Management & Quality systems
  2. Physical resources
  3. Staff & staff development
  4. Training & training assessment

The approval procedure and monitoring activity is a robust process and ensures that training is safe and quality assured with competence based, consistent outcomes of the Basic Offshore Emergency Response Training according to the OPITO standards.

In order to ensure that this initiative is realized, MPMI’s team will seek to lobby with our national government, ExxonMobil, and other stakeholders.
