On 13 December 2019, Tullow Guyana signed a Grant Agreement with the Matpal Marine Institute to aid in the purchasing of equipment to enhance marine safety training capabilities and development of the institute. The grant, totalling three million Guyanese dollars, will be used to provide materials and technology to enhance the training experience, making training more immersive and applicable to jobs in the sector.
Many local Guyanese people will benefit from the grant including high school graduates and professionals who are working or seeking employment in the maritime sector. The advancements in oil and gas also enable the opportunity of providing business support to the developing sector.
