PURPOSE
The purpose is to provide for both practicing mariners and those who aspire to become ship masters or navigating officers an awareness of the hazards, knowledge, skills and standards of safe working procedures while in charge of a navigational watch.
OBJECTIVE
On completion of the course the mariner or trainee will have a thorough knowledge of the International Regulation for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREG 1972) so as to be in a position to interpret the regulation himself in his own particular circumstances and to apply them when in charge of a navigational watch.
