We are honoured to announce the launching of our first Deck Cadet Programme. The team consists of four (4) females and thirteen (13) males. This training is done in collaboration with MatPal, Critchlow Labour College and the Caribbean Maritime Institute.
During the first eleven months (11) phase , all Cadets will be exposed to the following areas of training:
- MATHEMATICS
- ENGLISH AND REPORT WRITING
- BASIC SAFETY TRAINING (BST) – STANDARDS OF TRAINING,
- CERTIFICATION AND WATCHKEEPING FOR SEAFARERS AS AMENDED.
- PERSONAL SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES
- BASIC FIRE FIGHTING
- ELEMENTARY FIRST AID
- PERSONAL SAFETY AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- SHIP SECURITY AWARENESS
- NAUTICAL SCIENCE/PROFICIENCY IN SHIPBOARD NAVIGATION AND OPERATIONS
The ongoing Cadet training programme is a part of the Guyana Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) effort to increase capacity within the Administration.
